Pick Swedish to relax: smooth strokes, light to medium pressure, head to toe. Pick Deep Tissue for knots and a stiff back: slow and firm. Both are $50 for 30 minutes or $70 for 60.
How Swedish massage feels
Swedish feels smooth and flowing. Long strokes and light to medium pressure warm the whole body.
Nothing digs in. The pace stays easy, and comfort is the whole point.
It is the usual first choice. More on our Swedish Massage page.
How deep tissue massage feels
Deep tissue feels slow and firm. Your therapist leans into the back, shoulders and neck.
Most of the time goes to the spots that feel stuck. Desk work, driving and lifting are the usual causes.
It should feel strong, never painful. More on our Deep Tissue Massage page.

Which one to choose
Start from your goal. To unwind after a long week, book Swedish. To work on a knotted back, book Deep Tissue.
Think about pressure too. Some people find light strokes too soft, and some find firm work too much.
Never had a massage? Start with Swedish and ask for more pressure once you know how it feels.
How firm is too firm?
Too firm is when you tense up or stop breathing easily. Good pressure is strong and still comfortable.
Speak up the moment it is too much. Your therapist starts moderate and adjusts from what you say.
You can mix the two
Ask for a blend if you like. A relaxing pace overall, with firmer work on one or two tight spots, is a common request.
Point to where it is worst, and your therapist spends extra time there.
